Must Know

A lift pass is required to use the ski lifts and is scanned at the gate. No general admission ticket is required to enter the resort.

Lift passes can be purchased online (click here) or at the resort.

Beginners do not need to buy a lift pass in advance. Your instructor will advise when you are ready to use the lifts and can help you purchase the right pass. The beginner magic carpet area requires a separate ticket.

Teine : Operating from Early December to End March. Boarding times are at major hotels in Sapporo city and Sapporo Station, with direct service to the Olympia and Highland areas of Teine Ski Resort. Please reserve your seat here 2 week in prior to your lesson.

If you are driving, it is recommended to allow plenty of time for travel, as there is only one main road leading to the ski resort, and traffic can be congested during peak hours.

Book your equipment in advance on the resort’s official website (click here) and collect it from the rental shop on the day.

Show your booking confirmation and staff will help fit the right equipment. Your Visnow instructor will also check your gear before the lesson.

Helmets are mandatory for all lessons.

Sapporo Teine Ski Resort is one of the largest ski resorts closest to Sapporo city center. It is renowned for its high-quality powder snow, wide slopes, and convenient access, making it suitable for families, beginners, and independent travelers. It was a venue for the 1972 Winter Olympics and boasts slopes with views of Ishikari Bay and excellent facilities.

School trainer qualifications

Bryn is an SBINZ (Snowboard Instructors of New Zealand) Level 3 certified instructor. SBINZ instructors who can reach Level 3 and higher are among the few in the world, which means that they have reached strict standards in snowboarding techniques, teaching ability and professional assessment.

In addition to the New Zealand system, Bryn has also participated in CASI training, becoming familiar with both the Canadian and New Zealand international teaching systems. This allows him to integrate the strengths of different systems and establish a more comprehensive and efficient teaching approach.

As a training officer at Visnow School, Bryn is responsible for setting teaching standards and instructor training systems. She also directly participates in instructor training and internal assessments, continuously monitoring teaching quality to ensure that every instructor maintains a consistent and high level of professional performance, providing students with a safe, systematic, and trustworthy skiing learning experience.

Yes. Visnow welcomes children aged 3 and above to join our ski lessons.Children aged 3–6 must take the lesson together with at least one parent, who can assist with their everyday needs during the lesson, such as bathroom breaks, getting dressed, and taking breaks when needed.Our instructor will focus on ski instruction and on-snow safety, while the parent takes care of the child’s personal needs throughout the lesson.

Both are suitable for beginners, depending on your interests and learning goals.Skiing on two skis is generally easier to master basic balance, braking, and turning in the first one or two days, making it suitable for people who want to start skiing on beginner slopes as soon as possible.Snowboarding usually takes more time to get used to balance in the first few days, and you may fall more often, but once you master the basic turns, your progress will often accelerate significantly.If you particularly like one of the options, we usually recommend choosing the one you truly want to learn, rather than changing your choice simply because it's easier.

Everyone learns at a different pace depending on their fitness, balance, and individual ability.Based on our experience teaching first-time beginners at Visnow:Ski: Many complete beginners start to master basic pizza turns (snowplough turns) by around Day 2.Snowboard: Many beginners start learning or become comfortable with basic S-turns after around 3–5 days.If your goal is to properly learn rather than simply try it once, we recommend allowing at least 2–3 days for skiing or 3–5 days for snowboarding.Actual progress will vary depending on individual ability, snow conditions, fitness, and the amount of practice each day.

Yes. However, the lesson content and terrain will be planned around the least experienced participant to ensure everyone can take part safely.For example, if one person is a complete beginner, the lesson will need to follow beginner-appropriate terrain, pace, and progression, even if other members can already ski or snowboard independently.If there is a significant difference in ability levels and everyone wants to progress effectively at their own level, we recommend splitting into separate groups with different instructors.

Standard private lessons do not include equipment rental, transportation, or lift passes. Visnow only charges for the lesson and instructor service. Equipment rental fees should be paid directly to the rental shop, while lift passes should be purchased separately from the Sapporo Teine ticket office if required.The exception is our Snowboard Package, which includes round-trip bus transportation from central Sapporo to Sapporo Teine, snowboard equipment rental, and a snowboard lesson—ideal for guests who prefer to have their transport, equipment, and lesson arranged together.

Not necessarily. First timers will spend the first part of the lesson learning the basics in the beginner area, so there is no need to purchase a lift pass in advance. Your instructor can advise you when a lift pass is needed based on your progress.However, a valid ticket is required to use the Magic Carpet in the beginner area. Guests can decide whether they would like to use it during the lesson.

All participants are required to arrange their own travel insurance for their trip to Japan and ensure that their policy specifically covers snowsports.We recommend coverage for accidental injuries and medical expenses, third-party liability, emergency rescue, and evacuation. Sapporo Teine is close to downtown Sapporo and can be reached by JR shuttle bus, BigRuns ski bus , or by car.Visnow's course schedules are specially coordinated with the arrival and return times of the BigRuns ski bus . BigRuns departs from Sapporo Station, Odori, and many major hotels in the city, providing direct access to Sapporo Teine, making it suitable for travelers without their own vehicles.
