Visnow Ski School offers lessons at Asahidake led by internationally certified ski instructors. Famous for its natural powder snow and freeride terrain, Asahidake offers an authentic Hokkaido mountain experience. Our instructors tailor the experience to your ability, snow conditions and terrain, helping you enjoy the famous Japow while keeping safety the top priority.

Must Know
Asahidake does not offer ski or snowboard equipment rental. Guests must bring their own equipment. Powder skis or a powder snowboard are recommended for the best experience.
Please note: Asahidake lessons are suitable for experienced skiers and snowboarders who can confidently ride red to black runs independently. A helmet is mandatory.

About Asahidake
Asahidake Ropeway, located in Daisetsuzan National Park, is one of Hokkaido’s highest ski areas, renowned for its natural powder snow, spectacular winter scenery and expansive off-piste terrain. It is ideal for experienced riders seeking deep powder and an authentic Hokkaido backcountry-style mountain experience.

Avalanche Certified
Our Asahidake instructors hold recognised avalanche safety certifications from New Zealand or Canada. Access is via the Ropeway, followed by a short hike before riding back to the station.
Chinese & English Instruction
Learn in your preferred language for clearer understanding and faster progress. Our instructors teach fluently in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, creating a smooth, comfortable and high-quality learning experience.
Forest Conservation
Visnow donates a portion of its annual proceeds to more trees, the forest conservation organisation founded by legendary musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. Every lesson you book with Visnow helps contribute to a greener planet.
Our Trainer
School trainer qualifications
Bryn is an SBINZ Level 3 certified instructor with advanced expertise in riding and teaching. With additional CASI training, he combines both New Zealand and Canadian teaching systems to deliver effective, well-rounded coaching.
As Visnow’s Training Officer, Bryn sets teaching standards, trains and evaluates instructors, and oversees coaching quality to ensure a consistent, professional and safe learning experience.
