Sapporo Teine ski and snowboard day packages with Chinese-speaking lessons
You're visiting Sapporo and want to set aside a day to try skiing. You start looking for ski or snowboard lessons, and the questions begin to pile up:
How do you get from Sapporo to Teine?
Where can you rent ski clothing and equipment?
What time should you leave?
What if you buy the wrong lift ticket?
If you'd like someone to take care of the details, Visnow can set you up with a day package at Sapporo Teine. You'll ride a bus from Sapporo Station, pick up your gear and join a ski or snowboard lesson taught in Chinese, then head back to Sapporo at the end of the day. You can choose between a private lesson and a group lesson for first-timers. Gloves aren't provided, and lift tickets or passes for the beginner conveyor lift ("magic carpet") are bought separately based on your skill level and that day's lesson plan.
Staying in Sapporo? You can still plan a day of skiing
Teine is ideal for a ski day from Sapporo. Beginners practice in the Olympia area, and the Olympia Ski Center has tickets, dining and changing rooms. Whether the beginner area opens depends on the day's snow and resort operations.
For first-time skiers, the biggest advantage of the package is that you don't have to book round-trip transportation from the city, find a rental shop and then figure out how to fit it all around your lesson.
The package takes care of the itinerary for you, but departure, lesson and return times differ for skiing and snowboarding. Once you've booked, just follow the schedule for the package you chose. Transportation is by the bus service listed in the package, and final operating and pickup details are confirmed in your booking.
What's included in "full gear"?
Gear for the Visnow Teine package comes from a partner rental shop. Ski and snowboard packages both include a jacket, pants, boots, a helmet, goggles and skis or a snowboard, and ski packages also come with poles. Waterproof gloves aren't included, so bring your own or buy a pair on-site as explained on the package page. Note that the rental jackets are not from the Visnow Dream Snow Wear collection.

Visnow instructor tip: Before you head out on your first day, put on a warm base layer and a good pair of ski socks, and keep your gloves somewhere easy to reach. Have your boots fitted at the rental shop, and don't accept a pair that clearly doesn't fit just to stay on schedule. Comfortable feet make it much easier to concentrate on learning to stand, stop and turn.
Chinese-speaking instructors: What will you learn in your first lesson?
Teine lessons are available in Cantonese and Mandarin. Your instructor starts with the basics: putting on gear, moving on flat ground, falling and getting up, and controlling speed.
From there, the rest of the lesson depends on how the day goes. A longer lesson doesn't guarantee you'll make it onto the magic carpet or a lift on day one, since everyone's balance, stamina and learning pace are different.
There are currently two ways to book the package:
Private lesson package: For families or friends traveling together, or anyone who wants the instructor to tailor the lesson to their level. Ski packages start at ¥76,000 per group and snowboard packages at ¥78,000 per group. Prices for groups of one to six are listed on our website.
First-timer group package: Designed for Chinese-speaking travelers who want to sign up solo and try skiing or snowboarding for the first time. It currently costs ¥28,000 per person, with up to six people per group, and until Nov. 10 a group will run even with just one participant. It's open to ages 12 to 59, and only to people trying that sport for the first time.
Keep in mind that these are package prices covering the listed bus, rental gear and lesson, and they differ from a regular instructor-only private lesson. For full pricing by group size, dates and availability, see Visnow Sapporo Teine lessons and day packages.
What does the day look like?
Everything starts and ends at Sapporo Station. The snowboard package runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the ski package from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including the bus ride, gear pickup and return, breaks and your lesson.
Why doesn't the package include a lift ticket?
Each student may need a different ticket on the day. First-timers don't necessarily start out on a regular lift. Your instructor will assess your level first, and then you'll decide together at the resort which ticket to buy.
That said, the beginner magic carpet at Olympia requires a pass. There is no general admission fee to enter the resort. Lift tickets and magic carpet passes are charged separately if you use those facilities.
Visnow instructor tip: On your first day, think about which facilities you'll use before deciding which ticket to buy. If you'll only be getting used to your gear on flat ground without the magic carpet, your ticket needs will be different.
Traveling with kids? Check age requirements and booking deadlines
Age requirements differ by package:
Private package: Partner rental gear is available for ages 6 and older.
First-timer group: Open to ages 12 to 59.
The current package also requires adults to weigh less than 100 kilograms (220 pounds). These restrictions apply specifically to the day packages and their rental equipment and should not be confused with the age requirements for Visnow's regular lessons.
The package page currently requires booking at least two weeks in advance. For Christmas, New Year's and other peak dates, we recommend booking about two months ahead.
You don't have to be an expert to get started
You don't need to study every type of board or bus route before booking your first lesson at Teine. Just settle on a date, gather everyone's details and decide whether your group wants to ski or snowboard. Your booking confirmation will walk you through the rest.

Frequently asked questions
1. What's included in the Teine day package?
The round-trip bus from Sapporo Station, rental gear from a partner shop and a Visnow ski or snowboard lesson. Lift tickets and gloves are not included.
2. Can I sign up on my own?
Yes. First-timers who meet the requirements can join a group lesson, which currently runs with as few as one participant and takes up to six. You can also book a one-on-one private package.
3. Should I buy a full-day lift ticket before my first lesson?
You don't need to buy one in advance. Your instructor will assess your level and confirm which ticket, if any, you need for the lesson.
4. Can I be picked up at my hotel?
No. The package uses a tour coach that stops only at Sapporo Station. Skipping individual hotel pickups keeps the ride short, so no one loses time on the snow.
5. I'm driving to Teine. Do I still need the package?
If you won't be using the bus from Sapporo Station, a regular private lesson may suit you better, and you can arrange gear on your own.
